Chota Imambara, Lucknow Lucknow’s Chota Imambara, also known as the Hussainabad Imambara is located a short distance away from the much larger Bara Imambara. The Chhota Imambara is located west of the Bara Imambara and was built by Nawab Mohammad Ali Shah sometime around 1837, an even more intricately designed architectural marvel with chandeliers, mirror and stuccos adorning the interiors. But in Avadhi architecture, brick and mortar has been shaped into impressive structures. Nawab asif uddaula made this amazing place in the time, when people in lucknow were going through rough time, and he useded to break the walll of this imambara every night and made them work next day and paid them from his shihi khazana, and basically gave them their living. The whole building is made from Lime stone, lentils and a fruit gum. Built by Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula, it is also known as the Turkish Gate because it is modelled after Bab-i-Humayun gateway in Turkey.
