I felt very comfortable, because it’s the place that I belong and it’s so comforting for me to be in touch and close with the public and my friends. “I felt like a stranger in my own country. It’s not that she belongs nowhere, but that she is part of bone-deep legacies upheld by Black women even across miles of water, and on tracks like “Lençóis” and “Quase,” she is grateful for that history.
